Directional Boring
Brint Electric offers directional boring services for new underground utilities while protecting what’s above ground.
Constructing a new building or increasing power capacity with a plant expansion often requires feeding new wiring into your facility to protect the overall electrical infrastructure. Traditional on-site excavation methods, like trenching, involve digging up the earth and manually burying the lines underground. However, these techniques are ineffective when roadways, sidewalks, railroads, and bodies of water are blocking the path. Attempting to dig through obstacles creates delays, increases costs, and can impact the day-to-day activities of the public.
Leveraging a strategy that minimally impacts above-ground affairs while installing underground becomes a top priority when these elements are involved. As a leading provider of commercial electric solutions, Brint Electric offers directional boring services that efficiently perform utility installations without disrupting the surrounding area.
Drilling through the surface area without interrupting existing utilities requires knowledge and expertise that few providers possess. Brint Electric has more than five decades of experience with horizontal direction boring processes and works with clients to design the most cost-effective approach. Our experts utilize industry-leading equipment that uses high-pressure water to dig a bore path while protecting the environment. Some of the advantages of our direction boring services include:

Brint Electric believes in building long-term relationships with our clients, which is why we utilize a safety-first approach to directional boring. We have an in-house safety manager who regularly visits our job sites to verify workers are meeting our safety standards. Brint Electric also inspects equipment before each use to ensure it’s operating properly and maintains contact with our employees about updated best practices. Our directional boring process starts with checking to make sure we’re not impacting existing underground utility lines and then follows these steps:

Brint uses modern equipment that drills a pilot hole between two surface points using high-pressure water. Our drill bit equipment is capable of steering the bore path in any direction and is capable of drilling distances ranging from a few yards to several hundred.
The hole drilled by our high-pressure drilling equipment is small and not large enough to fit electric wiring through. Brint’s team carefully bores the drill string back and forth to enlarge the hole to an adequate size.
After verifying the bore hole’s size, our team safely feeds the electric wiring through the path without impacting the local environment. Once installed, our team patches up the small bits and makes sure the area remains unaffected.
